gainesville

NORTH FLORIDA

Population: 350,000

Why plant here? Because metro Gainesville is home to nearly 350,000 people, the home of the University of Florida with over 34,000 students, a city with a median age of 26 and our movement has no churches here. It is a city that has massive influence

throughout our state and around the country but is also a city heavily influenced by secularism. In short, this is a city that needs Jesus!

Cutler Bay, FL

Southern Miami/Dade Metro

Population: 287,505 (within a five mile radius)

Cutler Bay is a large city within the greater Miami metro area. Like the rest of Miami, it is a diverse and vibrant area full of life and growth but it is also one of the top fifty most Post-Christian cities in America. A healthy, growing church is needed to share the hope of Jesus. FCP is being given a church building and a few acres of land. The hope is to start both an English-speaking congregation and a Spanish-speaking congregation. A Hispanic planter has been found, but we continue to search for an English-speaking church

planter.

Fun Fact:  Cutler Bay's history dates back to the 1800s when it was an agricultural hub.

Miami – GCMI Partnership

Florida Church Planters and GCMI Partnership for Miami

While the city of Miami is home to half a million residents, the metro area of Miami is just over 6 million people. Forty-two percent of those living in metro Miami were born outside of the US in nations including Cuba, Colombia, Haiti, Brazil, and Venezuela and other locations throughout Latin America. Miami is also home to significant Jewish communities, Middle Eastern peoples, and Hindu and Muslim South Asians.

As a secular city, nearly half of Miami residents never attend religious services of any kind. Global City Mission Initiative and FCP are partnering to advance the Gospel in the metro area of Miami. Over the next year or so, FCP and GCMI will be working together to discover and mobilize catalytic church planters to serve the incredibly diverse communities of Miami. We hope to see work begin on the ground by 2026.

Fun Facts: Miami was once a mangrove swamp.  Miami was a popular destination for pirates in the 17th century. Miami is home to the first Burger King restaurant, which opened in 1954.
